The Crichton Foundation Board having been reviewing our operations. At their most recent meeting, the Trustees considered a number of options for the future strategy of the Crichton Foundation. After 25 successful years and having held a strategy review in March 2024, now is the most suitable time to adapt our operations to ensure we are able to deliver our charitable aims for another 25 years. With Andrew retiring as Convenor at the AGM in September, beginning the change process now means his successor will be taking control of a charity that is fit for the future.
The Trustees have agreed in principle to transition to a grant-making foundation (lean legacy model). We will be working hard over the next several months to develop this strategy. Significant changes to our operations will be an essential part of this. Effectively it will mean sacrificing the social elements of our operations in order to focus on more generous grant giving.
We understand that change can be challenging to negotiate. However, we hope you will agree that, as an organisation, we need to adapt to an evolving charity landscape. Please be assured that heritage and legacy will remain at the heart of the Crichton Foundation whilst we also deliver the best possible support to the students and organisations of the Crichton Campus.
The Women’s Lunch will proceed as scheduled on 15th May. The situation with regard to events beyond then remains to be decided.
We will, of course, keep you up to date with the plans.
