Chairman Vicky Jardine-Paterson welcomed a capacity audience of 360 guests to the Women of Dumfries and Galloway Lunch on Friday 7th March 2013. This event is proving to be increasingly popular and tickets were sold out within a week of going on sale. For the first time at the Women’s lunch there was a man in our midst as the new Foundation Convenor, Andrew Walls, joined the guests. After a glass of fizz and a two course lunch the speaker was welcomed to the stage. The Countess of Carnarvon gave a fascinating account of the rich history of Highclere Castle. Her photographs and stories about Highclere and its occupants made up for the fact that the second speaker, the actress Diana Quick, was unfortunately unable to join us on the day.
Bonham’s once again provided generous support as the main sponsor. The Foundation offers them its grateful thanks for their support. The many businesses that took advertising within the event programme and donations from businesses and individuals helped to ensure the success of the event which raised approximately £13,000.
