DIRECTIONS TO CRICHTON SITE

The Crichton has just recently been sign posted by the Council. It should now be possible to follow these signs across Dumfries . The Crichton is adjacent to Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary.

Coming from Lockerbie - A709

400 yards past Locharmoss Civic Amenity Site on your left hand side you meet a roundabout where the A709 ( Lockerbie Road ) joins A75. Go straight across heading towards Dumfries Town centre. Approximately ¾ mile further on there is another roundabout. Go straight ahead. There are houses on either side of the road. Until the next mini roundabout where you go straight on. At the next roundabout there is a Police Station on the right bear left, and come to another roundabout (BMW garage on your left). Turn right here. You will come to a set of traffic lights and turn left. There is a roundabout with Somerfield on your right. Go straight ahead. You will approach another roundabout with Morrisons on your left hand side, bear right and follow the road through traffic lights at a pedestrian crossing, till you come to a set of traffic lights at a major junction. St Michaels Church is on your left. Ahead there is a bridge and the River Nith. Turn left onto St Michael's Street. See all routes below

Coming from Carlisle and the South - A74 & M6 A75

Bear left at the Collin roundabout beside Travel Lodge/Little Chef/Petrol Station. Follow this road ( Annan Road ). Go straight across the mini roundabout with Volkswagon Garage on left hand side. Continue past Aldi Stores on right and go straight across mini roundabout. At next roundabout bear left (John Pagan Funeral Directors is ahead of you). Continue down Brooms Road till you reach roundabout with Morrisons on your right hand side. The Fire Station is on your left. Go through traffic lights at pedestrian crossing, till you come to a set of traffic lights at a major junction. St Michael's Church is on your left. Ahead there is a bridge and the River Nith. Coming from Glasgow, Edinburgh and the North - M74 & A701

Approach Dumfries on the A701 (Gates Rubber Company is on your left hand side), till you meet a large roundabout where the A75 crosses. Go straight across and continue until you reach a mini roundabout. Bear left down Moffat Road to next mini roundabout. Bear right onto Lockerbie Road and continue 200 yards to roundabout (Police Station on your right) bear left, and you come to another roundabout (BMW garage on your left) turn right here . You will come to a set of traffic lights and turn left. There is a roundabout with Somerfield on your right go straight ahead. You will approach another roundabout with Morrisons on your left hand side, bear right and follow the road through traffic lights at a pedestrian crossing, till you come to a set of traffic lights at a major junction. Coming from Ayr & Kilmarnock - A76

Approach Dumfries on the A76 to Lochside roundabout with McDonalds on your right. At next large roundabout with A75 go straight across. Follow Glasgow Road through next roundabout (Homebase, Tesco's and KFC on your right). Continue to next roundabout (at St Teresa's Church) and go straight over keeping in the right hand lane. Continue in right hand lane (avoiding bus lane) until you reach a set of traffic lights at a T junction. Move into left lane and at next set of traffic lights turn left again keeping to the right hand lane over the bridge ready to turn right at next traffic lights on to Whitesands. Continue the length of Whitesands passing through pedestrian crossing and one set of traffic lights. At last set of traffic lights on Whitesands you want to turn left but again be in the right hand lane. Up the hill St Michael's Church is on the right hand side across from the lights. Coming from Stranraer - A75

Approach Dumfries on A75. At first roundabout turn right. Continue to mini roundabout at Cargenbridge on A711. Bear left into Dumfries . At fork in road turn right into Park Road . Continue to junction keeping to the right and turn right into New Abbey Road . Take first left into Pleasance Avenue . At first set of traffic lights go straight on, past Halfords on your right hand side and continue through the second set of traffic lights on Whitesands. At third set of traffic lights at St Michael's Church turn right onto St Michael's Street. See all routes below

All routes from St Michael's Street

Continue along St Michael's Street until you reach a roundabout. Turn right and continue until the road forks three ways. Take the left hand fork and continue past Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary. There are three entrances to the Crichton Site on your right. Take the  third entrance ( Grierson Gate).  As you enter the Crichton site you will pass Bell College on your left hand side.  At the juction continue straight through and follow the road till you come to another junction.  Turn left and follow the road round and the Browne House car park is on your left hand side.
