The
Crichton Foundation, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland
The
Crichton Foundation is a charitable trust, formerly known
as the Crichton Endowment Trust, which was first set up
by Dumfries and Galloway Regional Council in 1996 to support
the Crichton Project.
With
a Mission Statement of 'creating a world class centre
of learning and enterprise', the central role of
the Crichton Foundation is to raise funds for charitable
purpose and to apply these funds to:
-
widen access to higher and further education in southern Scotland and beyond;
-
assist the academic institutions on the Crichton University Campus to develop their academic programmes and facilities;
-
preserve and regenerate the heritage of the Crichton estate as a public asset, to be enjoyed by the local community; and
-
raise awareness of the importance of the Crichton University Campus for the prosperity of the local community.

The Crichton
site is situated in Dumfries, Dumfries and Galloway, south
west Scotland. First and foremost it is a university campus,
unique in that it has attracted five different academic
institutions to one site. In addition, there are economic benefits
being delivered by the development of the Business Park and
the cultural and heritage expansion of the site.
