How You Can Help
Our work relies on the generosity of Friends and sponsors who support our events and are a source of donations, subscriptions and bequests. The Foundation also has a growing number of Patrons who act as a powerful regional and national voice for the Campus.
Your Friendship Really Counts
Annual subscriptions and donations help the Foundation to support scholarships and bursaries to students, the annual summer school, and to improve student facilities. They also enable additional fund-raising to take place for the maintenance and restoration of buildings on the Campus.
Becoming a Friend is easy
Friends are invited to attend Foundation events such as The Elizabeth Crichton Founder's Day Lunch and Henry Duncan Lecture and the Crichton Conversations which attract high profile speakers to talk on topics of local, national and international significance. Subscription to our Friends scheme entitles you to priority booking for The Women of Dumfries and Galloway Lunch and Gala Evening before tickets are available on general release.

If you'd like to become a Friend or support us by making a donation you can do so by one of the following methods:
- By Cheque
- By setting up a Standing Order
- Transfer through your bank
If you would like to support the work of the Foundation through sponsorship we have a variety of opportunities available. There are different ways to sponsor each of our events including the Gala Evening, Women of Dumfries and Galloway Lunch and Crichton Conversations, with costs to suit every budget. Please contact us for more information.
Supporting a Special Project
Some people have a special interest in the Crichton and prefer to make a larger one-off donation towards a specific project such as the Henry Duncan Building attached to the College. Friends of the Foundation gave generously to this appeal.
Examples of new projects requiring financial support are:
- Restoration work on Crichton Memorial Church which hosts graduations and events
- A campaign by the College and Universities to attract Chinese students
- The establishment of the Crichton Research Institute which will focus on issues facing our rural economy including community development, the environment, health and wellbeing
If any of these projects attract you or you have a special interest in helping the Crichton, please contact the Foundation.
Wills and Bequests
Remembering The Crichton Foundation in your will is an ideal way to ensure your legacy lives on to help future generations.
Bequests of all sizes are very welcome. Please consider remembering us even if only a small gift is available after your commitments to family and friends have been met.
Your bequest can be used for a specific purpose according to your wishes or where it is needed most at the discretion of the Foundation.
You may choose to have your bequest acknowledged or to remain anonymous. Gifts to The Crichton Foundation can be exempt from tax because of The Foundation’s charitable status and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that your gift has made a real difference.
